Name:

Cosmopolitan

Ingredients:

  • 45ml Vodka
  • 15ml triple sec
  • 30ml cranberry juice
  • 10ml lime juice
  • Ice

Method:

STEP 1 - Shake ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.

STEP 2 - To make the garnish: hold a 3cm round piece of orange zest about 10cm above your cosmo and very carefully wave it over a lit match or lighter flame. 

STEP 3 - Bend the outer edge of the zest in towards the flame so that the orange oils are released, then drop the zest into your drink.

Margarita

Ingredients:

  • Ice
  • 50ml Tequila
  • 25ml lime juice
  • 20ml triple sec
  • Salt
  • 2 lime wedges 

Method:

STEP 1 - Sprinkle a few teaspoons of salt over the surface of a small plate or saucer. Rub one wedge of lime along the rim of a tumbler and then dip it into the salt so that the entire rim is covered.

STEP 2 - Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then add the tequila, lime juice and triple sec. Shake until the outside of the shaker feels cold. 

STEP 3 - Strain the mix into the prepared glass over fresh ice. Serve with a wedge of lime.

Aperol Spritz

Ingredients:

  • Ice
  • 100ml Aperol
  • 150ml prosecco
  • Soda, to top up

Method:

STEP 1 - Put a couple of cubes of ice into 2 glasses and add a 50 ml measure of Aperol to each. 

STEP 2 - Divide the prosecco between the glasses and then top up with soda, if you like.

STEP 3 - Add a garnish of orange.

Mojito

Ingredients:

  • 1 lime
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • Small handful mint leaves
  • 60ml White Rum
  • Soda water

Method:

STEP 1 - Squeeze the lime to get some lime juice. 

STEP 2 - Muddle the lime juice, sugar and mint leaves in a small jug, crushing the mint as you go (you can use the end of a rolling pin for this). 

STEP 3 - Pour into a tall glass and add a handful of ice.

STEP 4 - Pour over the rum, stirring with a long-handled spoon. Top up with soda water, garnish with mint and serve.

Negroni

Ingredients:

  • 25ml Gin
  • 25ml Sweet vermouth
  • 25ml Campari
  • Ice
  • Slice of Orange

Method:

STEP 1 - Pour the Gin, vermouth and Campari into a mixing glass or jug with ice. 

STEP 2 - Stir well until the outside of the glass feels cold.

STEP 3 - Strain into a tumbler and add 1 large ice sphere or some fresh ice, and garnish with an orange slice.

Old Fashioned 

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp sugar syrup or 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1-2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Splash of water
  • 60ml Scotch Whisky or Bourbon
  • Soda water
  • Orange slice

Method:

STEP 1 - Put the sugar, bitters and water in a small tumbler. Mix until the sugar dissolves if using granulated.

STEP 2 - Fill your glass with ice and stir in the whisky. Add a splash of soda water if you like and mix.

STEP 3 - Garnish with the orange or cherry as you prefer.

Strawberry Daiquiri

Ingredients:

  • 500g strawberries
  • 200g ice
  • 100ml Rum
  • Juice 1/2 lime
  • 1-2 tbsp sugar syrup, optional
  • 2 slices of limes

Method:

STEP 1 - Blend the strawberries then push the resulting puree through a sieve to remove some of the seeds.

STEP 2 - Tip the sieved puree into the blender again and add the ice, rum, 1-2 tbsp sugar syrup depending on how sweet you like your drinks and lime juice.

STEP 3 - Thread the lime slices and strawberry halves onto the cocktail sticks and place onto the edge of the glass and serve.

Rum Punch

Ingredients:

  • 175ml freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 75ml freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 150ml Rum
  • 50ml sugar syrup
  • Dash of grenadine syrup
  • Dash of Angostura bitters
  • Ice cubes, to serve
  • Generous pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
  • 2 thick slices orange, to garnish
  • Maraschino cherries, to garnish

Method:

STEP 1 - Pour the juices, rum, sugar syrup, grenadine and Angostura bitters into a large jug and give it a good stir. 

STEP 2 - Pop into the fridge to chill for 1 hr.

STEP 3 - Serve over ice cubes, sprinkle over the nutmeg and garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry, speared with a cocktail stick.

Bloody Mary 

Ingredients:

  • Large handful of ice
  • 100ml Vodka
  • 500ml tomato juice
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice, plus 2 slices to serve
  • Few shakes Worcestershire sauce
  • Few shakes Tabasco 
  • Pinch of celery salt
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 2 celery sticks, to serve

Method:

STEP 1 - Place the ice in a large jug. Measure the vodka, tomato juice and lemon juice and pour it straight onto the ice.

STEP 2 - Add 3 shakes of Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco (or more if you like it very spicy) and a pinch of celery salt and pepper. Stir until the outside of the jug feels cold, then strain the cocktail into tall glasses.

STEP 3 - Top up with fresh ice, add a celery stick and lemon slice to glasses and enjoy.

Espresso Martini

Ingredients:

  • 100g golden caster sugar
  • Ice
  • 100ml Vodka
  • 50ml freshly brewed espresso coffee
  • 50ml coffee liqueur 
  • 4 coffee beans (optional)

Method:

STEP 1 - Start by making the sugar syrup. Put the caster sugar in a small pan over a medium heat and pour in 50ml water. Stir, and bring to the boil.

STEP 2 - Turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool. Put martini glasses in the fridge to chill.

STEP 3 - Once the sugar syrup is cold, pour 1 tbsp into a cocktail shaker along with a handful of ice, the vodka, espresso and coffee liqueur. Shake until the outside of the cocktail shaker feels icy cold.

STEP 4 - Strain into the chilled glasses. Garnish each one with coffee beans if you like.

Vodka Martini

STEP 1 - Stir the vodka, dry vermouth and a little ice together or put them in a cocktail shaker to combine. 

STEP 2 - Strain into a chilled martini glass. 

STEP 3 - Serve with an olive on a cocktail stick or a twist of lemon peel.

 Manhattan 

Ingredients:
  • 50ml Bourbon or Rye Whiskey
  • 25ml rosso vermouth 
  • 5ml syrup from a jar of maraschino cherries
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Ice 
  • Maraschino cherry
  • A twist of pared lemon
Method:

STEP 1 - Stir the ingredients with ice in a mixing glass. 

STEP 2 - Strain into a cocktail glass.

STEP 3 - Garnish and serve.

Pina Colada

Ingredients:
  • 120g pineapple juice
  • 60ml White Rum
  • 60ml coconut cream
  • Wedge of pineapple, to garnish
Method:

STEP 1 - Pulse all the ingredients along with a handful of ice into a blender until smooth. 

STEP 2 - Pour into a tall glass and garnish as you like.

STEP 3 - Sit back and enjoy your refreshing cocktail.
