Mount Gay Black Barrel is crafted from a blend of intense and aromatic rums, distilled in traditional copper pot and column stills, matured between 3 to 7 years in American whiskey casks, and finished for 6 months in deeply charred Bourbon casks.

Highlights 

• Barbados is considered the birthplace of rum, and Mount Gay Distillery founded in 1703 is the world’s oldest commercial rum distillery. For three centuries, residents and visiting sailors have sipped its sweet golden nectar.
• It is named after Sir John Gay Alleyne, who managed the estate in the 18th Century on behalf of its owner, John Sober.
• Sir John was so successful at managing the estate, and such a respected figure in Barbados society, that the distillery was renamed Mount Gay after his death in 1801.
• Mount Gay is now owned by French spirits group Rémy Cointreau.
• 70cl bottle size. 
• 43% ABV.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Woody and butter notes balanced with dried fruit and spices.

Palate: Bold and aromatic with notes of gingerbread, lychee and toffee.

Finish: Warm, medium body with a long finish.
